I used to view ethical living as a heavy obligation. Then, after years of overwhelm, I went travelling.
Fear, busyness and doubt stop us from seeing and appreciating so much of life's goodness. Away from the stresses of home the pressure lifted and gratitude overwhelmed me. A switch flipped. Ethical living no longer felt like a chore: I had fallen back in love with life.
I vowed there and then to do all I could to keep this love for life alive and these acts are a reflection of that promise. They evolved (and continue to evolve) slowly and steadily, like sustainable change nearly always does, but my lifestyle took on a more positive turn from the outset and I’ve shared them in the hope yours can too.
Not by following my game plan, but by creating your own.
Please take the acts that resonate and leave the rest. Or chuck the lot and enjoy a completely different set!! From gratitude to meditation and spending time in nature to finding community, there really are so many possibilities. One of the beautiful things about loving life is that there’s no one way to do it; there’s no one way to be. Everyone is on their own unique path. And it's this, for me, that has been the biggest revelation: whatever comes up in our most honest moments of self-reflection can be trusted. Not as objective truths telling us what to do but as threads to follow in becoming our most authentically loving selves.
The day we decide to step into all that we are (and stop trying to fill the shoes of others) is the day we truly begin to love life. You really are the greatest you that ever was. Go be!
